Saffer Cooper has recently been appointed as project managers for two large newbuild extra care developments for housing associations. These are tremendously exciting opportunities that enable us to play a major part in delivering high quality homes that can change peoples’ lives.
Director Sean Stafford who is leading on the projects explains: ‘Extra care housing enables older people to lead fruitful, independent lives whilst offering supportive management and care, if and when needed. Although early days in the design process, the briefs are likely to include coffee bars or bistros, hairdressing and nail salons, and exercise suites – all located in the scheme offering enhanced lifestyle choices and all in easy reach of an individual’s apartment.
As project managers, our task with the construction team is to deliver fabulous buildings with associated staffing, and person centred services for the wellbeing of all residents. Additionally we shall be advising on the post completion facilities management services – all elements to give an outstanding service to the new residents.
Saffer Cooper has considerable experience in this area of housing and whilst trends change the delivery challenge when building homes for older people remains as always….‘Let’s ensure we provide the type of homes that we’d be happy for our parents to live in’.
Exciting times indeed!
